New Anti-Aging Complex
Dermatologic Cosmetic Labora-tories introduced its new anti-aging complex, YQ Stratum, at the AAD annual meeting last month in Washington, D.C.
Through the use of ubiquinone enzymes, YQ Stratum delivers super anti-oxidants to the bi-layer membranes of skin cells.
In a double-blinded placebo-controlled study, patients were randomly assigned to use YQ Stratum and a placebo cream in a side-by-side half-face comparison. Patients were evaluated by ultrasound, digital photography and surveys at 7, 14 and 30 days.
Study results indicated the following:
l After 7 days of using YQ Stratum, 74% of the study subjects, ranging in age from 25 to 80, reported overall improvement in signs of aging.
l Ultrasound images demonstrated an increase in cellular density of the dermis.
l Digital photography, which indicated improvement in most of the patients, documented “drastic” improvement in 33% of patients.

New Rosacea Treatment with Sunscreen
Stiefel Laboratories has launched its new Rosac Cream with Suncreens (sodium sulfacetamide 10% and sulfur 5%) — the first rosacea treatment available that contains a sunscreen.
It has been documented that as many as 95% of rosacea patients don’t use a sunscreen. Protective against both UVA and UVB sun exposure, Rosac is available by prescription.

Lotions for Improving Laser Surgery Outcomes
Telsar Laboratories has introduced two lotions, which are to be used to help prevent over- or under-treating skin during laser and light-based treatments.
The first product, Telsar Laser Tracking Lotion, is formulated with small carbon particles, which are included because they absorb light. Physicians apply the cream to the treatment area, and the carbon particles (which turn the skin temporarily gray) dissipate after being exposed to laser light. According to Telsar Laboratories, this product is the first tracking lotion available.
The company also introduced the Telsar Laser Shielding Lotion, which is also applied to the skin before treatment — but to areas you don’t want to treat. This formulation contains a higher concentration of carbon particles than the tracking lotion. If skin is exposed to laser light, then only a portion of the carbon particles evaporate, leaving most particles intact to protect the patient’s skin.
