Products with Vitamins C, A, and Fibroblast Growth Factor

Three different product lines from Biopelle offer different approaches to photoaging.

Product literature describes the Ascorderm, Tensage and Retriderm offerings in terms of their active ingredients.

The Ascorderm line of topical vitamin C products were clinically proven to penetrate the skin and provide a stable and persistent reservoir of L-ascorbic acid in the skin. The line includes three contouring serums, a cleanser, two moisturizers and an eye cream. In addition to L-ascorbic acid, Ascorderm utilizes an exclusive ROS-inhibiting extract complex of ginkgo biloba, vitis vinifera extract and green tea extract.

Tensage, a fibroblast growth factor line, utilizes the secretions of the Cryptomphalus aspersa (SCA) to slow and reverse the visible signs of aging. A company press release claims that daily use of Tensage has shown a visible improvement in the signs of aging, helping the body build a structure to enhance collagen deposition, hyaluronic acid density and elastin integrity, translating to improvement in fine and coarse lines and wrinkles, skin texture and skin elasticity.

The Tensage regimen includes SCA ampoules, which are supplemented with one of three creams, providing additional SCA repair and enhanced by an Eye Contour cream or Body Care lotion.

Retriderm, a line of topical vitamin A serums, is the first and only retinol delivered in an oil-free suspension with high levels of soluble collagen, hydrolyzed elastin and hyaluronic acid, which, the company claims, increases penetration, increases bioavailability and increases transformation to the active metabolite. Retriderm offers the clinically proven benefits of retinol including smoother, softer, brighter skin, decreased blotchy pigmentation and diminished appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The line includes three items: Retriderm A Serum (30 mL) with 0.5% retinol for all skin types, including patients with sensitive skin, rosacea or eczema; Retriderm A Serum EXTRA (30 mL), which delivers 0.75% retinol to the skin and can be used after a regime of Retriderm A Serum or initially for individuals with more advanced photoaging; and Retriderm A Serum ULTRA (30 mL), which is formulated with the highest level of retinol, 1%, and provides maximum rejuvenation properties for all skin types.

Jan Marini Introduces Age Intervention Regeneration Facial Mask with Resveratrol

Jan Marini Skin Research, Inc., has introduced a rejuvenating facial mask that combines resveratrol, the new red wine longevity extract, with a skin-rebuilding peptide blend and other potent ingredients. According to a press release, Age Intervention Regeneration Facial Mask benefits all skin types, incorporating resurfacing technology with a host of powerful anti-aging anti-inflammatories including Resveratrol, combined with a skin rebuilding peptide blend. A dual-action occlusion and delivery system is said to “simultaneously saturate the skin with a high concentration of potent active topicals, while the glycolic acids acts as a turbo boost, injecting the activity ingredients into the layers of the skin.” This, claims the company, enables the skin to absorb and retain far higher levels of skin regenerating biological actives, at the same time that resurfacing is taking place. The results are immediate and progressively cumulative, leaving resurfaced skin luminous, healthy and smooth.

The product literature further claims that Regeneration Facial Mask also includes white, red and green tea extracts, pomegranate extract, and a unique peptide blend, which results in an anti-aging mask with benefits that include skin rebuilding, anti-inflammatory and repair properties and leaving noticeably softer skin with a resurfaced and luminous appearance.

Coapt Systems, Inc., Introduces a Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Filler

Hydrelle, a new, FDA-approved hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler for the treatment of facial wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds, is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid filler formulated with an anesthetic (lidocaine) for greater patient comfort.

Hydrelle is indicated for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. In a randomized, controlled pivotal U.S. study of 208 patients, Hydrelle was proven safe and effective. In a multi-center, international study, Hydrelle demonstrated patient and physician satisfaction, and filler effectiveness for up to 1 year.

According to company material, Hydrelle has been specifically formulated to deliver rapid results comparable to other hyaluronic acid fillers and the lidocaine anesthetic is integrated, providing a more comfortable injection experience for patients. It also represents an attractive value for patients seeking a safe and cost-effective filler option, because patients require approximately 50% of typical injection volumes, thus requiring fewer syringes to fully correct facial wrinkles.
